Happy Valley
Once upon a time there was a place called Happy Valley
Where earthlings dwelled in cozy clay domes.
Where the sun gave them light and the hilltop well gave them water.
Their fruit grew on trees and their chickens roamed free.
They tended roots in the soil and mugs in the kiln.
They were adventurers of the acres, discoverers of
ancient empty highways and hollowed buildings, now relics.
At night they burned fires and danced in the flicker and the shadows
of the cave that was once a secret wine cellar.
They only took from the earth what they could return
and in return the earth set them free.
And they were free.
